Product Description

Celebrating Newman’s beatification, September 2010

Cardinal Newman for Today presents John Henry Newman’s life as a tree. It is rooted in his encounter with the wisdom of antiquity, the discovery of divine revelation and the encounter with the Fathers of the Church. It produced shoots in the living tradition of the church, the faith-life of believers and the reality of doctrine. Its fruits, finally, are visible in the gospel of joy lived out in obedience to God and conscience.

“This book can be wholeheartedly recommended. It is refreshing reading, full of a living theology, written with a flowing style. One can dip into any of its chapters and gain understanding and light for the ongoing journey of faith. Readers will be grateful to Fr. Norris for showing how Newman’s theology is so timely in the contemporary scene.”

Bishop Dr. Philip Boyce
The Irish Catholic

“Norris is no unfamiliar face to Newman studies…. At home with the different theological currents which are alive today, he is one of those who can enrich Newman scholars, both old and new, in his discovery today.”

Fabio Attard, S.D.B.
Milltown Studies
