Susan MutoA native of Pittsburgh, Susan Muto, Ph.D. is a renowned speaker, author, teacher. Working with Father Adrian van Kaam, CSSp, PhD (1920-2007) from 1966 to 1988, Dr. Muto became the Epiphany Association's first executive director. Dr. Muto helped to establish the then Institute of Formative Spirituality (IFS) at Duquesne University. She taught as a full professor in its master's and doctoral programs, edited its journals, and served as its director from 1981 to 1988.

As an expert in the field of literature and spirituality, she continues to teach such courses as Meditating with the MastersFeeding Our Spiritual Hunger, and other courses on an adjunct basis at many schools, seminaries, and institutes of higher learning here and abroad. Drawing upon Judeo-Christian classics from ancient to modern times, together with contemporary resources in the literature of spirituality, she aims in her teaching to integrate the life of prayer and presence with professional ministry and in-depth formation in the home, in the church, and in the marketplace.

As co-editor of Epiphany ConnexionsEpiphany International, and Epiphany Inspirations (on-line), as a frequent contributor to scholarly and popular journals, and as a prolific author, Dr. Muto keeps up to date with the latest developments in her field. She is invited frequently to serve as a guest professor and to give lectures nationally and internationally in her specialty: formative spirituality and the treasured wisdom of the Judeo-Christian faith and formation tradition.
