About the Author

A monk of Saint John’s Abbey, Fr. Michael Patella is a professor of New Testament at Saint John’s University School of Theology and Seminary in Collegeville, Minnesota, where he also serves as the seminary rector. He has written on Paul, Mark, and angels and demons and contributed the exegesis of Luke’s Gospel for the Jerome Biblical Commentary, Fully Revised Edition. His work, Word and Image, addresses the theology, art, and interpretation of The Saint John’s Bible, a project for which he served as chair of the Committee on Illumination and Texts.
